TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State women’s tennis swept the ACC Honors this week, with sophomore Andrea Garcia taking home the ACC Player of the Week and freshman Petra Hule capturing Freshman of the Week after an upset win over No. 3 and defending national champions Florida in Lake Nona, Fla. as part of the USTA’s College MatchDay event live on the tennis channel.
“I am so proud of the girls getting the ACC Weekly honors,” said head coach Jennifer Hyde. “It is a very difficult thing to do in our conference because it is so deep and strong, but this is right where we belong. They earned every bit of those awards this week and we are looking for the opportunity to get many more of those during the season.”
Garcia earned her first ACC honor of her college career after a three set win on court six against Florida’s Katie Kubicz (UF) 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 to clinch the match for the Seminoles.
Hule dominated Florida’s Victoria Emma 6-1, 6-3 on court three to give the Noles a 2-0 lead in over the Gators. This is Hule’s first ACC award in her young career.
