The fall baseball season concludes Monday, October 21 at 3:00 p.m. when FSU hosts the Ontario Blue Jays.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State Baseball team will host the 30th annual Garnet & Gold game on Friday, October 18 at 6:00 p.m. The annual scrimmage will be held on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium.

Fans are encouraged to arrive at the stadium at 5:00 p.m. to watch the players take batting practice before the start of the scrimmage. The Seminoles will also Paint it Pink on Friday in an effort to raise awareness for breast cancer by wearing pink wrist bands, donning ribbons on their caps and painting the bases pink. The FSU batgirls will also be on hand wearing pink t-shirts.

The fall season will then conclude on Monday, October 21 when the Seminoles host a scrimmage against the Ontario Blue Jays with first pitch set for 3:00 p.m. Admission to both games is free of charge.

Florida State finished the 2013 season with 47 wins advancing to the NCAA Super Regionals for the sixth year in a row. The Seminoles registered a 20-10 mark in the ACC en route to a seventh consecutive Atlantic Division title.

The 2013-14 team returns 21 players including seven positions starts and 11 pitchers including eight who threw at least 20.0 innings. The Seminoles also welcome back shortstop Justin Gonzalez and right hander Mike Compton as both missed significant time in 2013 due to injury.

Friday night also marks one of the last chances to see some of new faces in action before the start of the 2014 season. FSU welcomes 13 newcomers to this year’s recruiting class including 11 freshmen and two JUCO transfers. The class is made up of six pitchers (including one left hander), two infielders, one outfielder, one catcher and three utility players (listed on the roster at two or more positions including pitcher and catcher).

In last year’s scrimmage, Garnet topped Gold, 8-5 as Scott Sitz walked away with MVP honors. The Seminole right hander worked 2.0 innings for the Garnet squad allowing just one run on two hits. He also registered a pinch-hit double and scored a run in the Garnet’s two-run sixth inning.

Brett Knief and John Nogowski paced the Garnet squad with two hits each, while Knief and Jose Brizuela each drove in two runs. Justin Gonzalez knocked in a pair of runs to lead the Gold team.
