WILMINGTON, N.C. (seminoles.com) – Senior Amanda Doherty finished in a tie for 11th place in the individual standings, and the Florida State Women’s Golf team finished in fifth place in the team standings as play in the Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall came to a close. The finish was Doherty’s best of the fall season, her 18th career top-15 finish and best finish since earning a sixth place finish in the 2019 NCAA Auburn Regional Championship. For the Seminoles it was their second top-five team finish of the fall season.

Florida State earned four top-10 team finishes during its four-match fall season. The Seminoles begin play on their spring season schedule at the Guadalajara International Invitational Feb. 16-19.

South Carolina rallied from 11 strokes down at the start of the third round to defeat Alabama by five strokes and win the team championship. The Gamecocks played the best round of the day and finished with a team score of 283. Priscilla Schmid of Indiana won the individual title with a three round score of 209 to earn a two stroke victory over Ana Palaez of South Carolina.

“We didn’t play our best today,” said Head Coach Amy Bond. “But we finished with two birdies and an eagle which allowed us to move into a top five finish. We know what we have to do in the offseason and we’ve got to put in a lot of work but is nothing that can’t be done. We are certainly looking forward to the spring season.”

Doherty finished the 54-hole tournament with a score of 75 in the final round of the championship. She carded scores of 70-71-75 to finish in a tie for 11th place. Doherty has now earned 18 career top-15 finishes. During the third round, Doherty carded three birdies and her second eagle of the tournament. She finished the Landfall tradition with a tournament-leading two birdies and has eight career birdies in her Seminole career. Doherty’s two eagles in this tournament marked the first time in her career that she carded multiple eagles in the same tournament.

Sophomore Puk Lyng Thomsen played the best round of the third day as she finished with a 2 under par score of 70. She finished in a tie for 31st place in the individual standings. Thomsen led the Seminoles with six birdies in the final round; she totaled 11 birdies in her three rounds played and was one of only seven players in the tournament with 11 or more birdies.

Sophomore Beatrice Wallin also finished in a tie for 31st place in the individual standings with a three round total of 220. She was never more than two strokes over par during the final round and was one stroke under par on her final 11 holes with two birdies and seven holes played a par.
