PINEHURST, N.C. (seminoles.com) – Florida State freshman golfer Alice Hodge finished first in the Women’s Division of the GCAA Amateur event at Pinehurst with scores of 73-71-76 and a 4-over par total of 220. She was in a tie for 13th place in the individual standings after a first round score of 73 and in a tie for 10th place after 36 holes with a score of 144.
The GCAA Amateur series is played with the men and the women playing together, but from different tees. Hodge was just one of two women to finish in the top-25 of the standings in the 61-golfer field. Her first place finish marks her second top-2 finish of the GCAA series after she finished in a tie for second place at the GCAA every at Johns Creek earlier in this month.
“I feel like I played pretty well this weekend,” said Hodge. “A pretty consistent three rounds. I feel like the biggest thing to playing well at most of the Pinehurst courses is just keeping it in the fairway and hitting the middle of the greens.”
Hodge continues her fall season at the GCAA Amateur Series at Simpsonville, Ky. (Oct. 17-18) and the GCAA Amateur Series at Raleigh, N.C. (Oct. 31-Nov. 1).
The GCAA Amateur Series is a series of amateur tournaments which began in August and will be played through November. The tournaments are two-day events played across the country and are eligible to men’s and women’s collegiate golfers who were on a varsity roster in 2019-20 or are scheduled to be on a varsity roster this coming fall.
