WINNIPEG, Man.- Rising Sophomore Dylan Grisell placed sixth in the men’s 10-meter platform event at the 2014 Summer Senior National Championships, which were held from May 16-18 at the Pan Am Pool in Winnipeg, Man.
“I thought Dylan did well,” FSU head diving coach Patrick Jeffrey said. “I think having a year of collegiate diving under his belt really paid off. He’s made several improvements and learned a few new dives over the course of his freshman year and we’re looking to build off that for next season.”
Starting on Friday, Grisell performed his best round of the weekend in prelims, scoring a total of 375.40 while earning fourth place. Later that day, the Toronto native advanced to semifinals and was just off his prelim score with tally of 369.95 while holding his fourth place.
In the final round on Sunday, Grisell slipped to sixth place while scoring 355.30.
“I was a little disappointed with my final round,” Grisell said. “I had a good start to the meet on Friday and I was looking to place a little higher, but I saw some improvements throughout the meet. I’m going to enjoy a little down time at home before I head back to Tallahassee to get ready for next season.”
Incoming freshman Tyler Roberge finished slightly ahead of Grisell with a score of 384.40 in finals. Roberge was seventh out of prelims (305.00) before moving up to third in semis following his best round (399.80).
