TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State defender Kristin Grubka was called into national team camp with the U-23 squad as announced by U.S. Soccer on Tuesday afternoon. This marks the first time Grubka has been called into camp by the U.S. National Team at any level.
Training camp for the U-23 team will run from June 7-14 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California.
Grubka was just one of three Seminoles to start all 28 games in 2013 leading Florida State to a third straight appearance in the College Cup and a berth in the national finals. She was honored on the NSCAA Southeast All-Region First Team, NCAA All-Tournament Team, All-ACC Second Team, and ACC All-Tournament Team this past season.
The backline for the Seminoles finished the season ranked in the top 25 nationally in goals against average (11th-.551) and shutout percentage (23rd-0.536).
Grubka, a native of Melbourne, Fla., will return to Florida State in the fall to continue to strengthen the backline with hopes of leading the Seminoles to another College Cup in her senior campaign.
