Huleโ€™s Singles Career Closes on Monday Night

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ( โ€“ Decorated redshirt senior Petra Hule of Florida State Womenโ€™s Tennis saw her tremendous singles career come to a close on Monday evening, falling to Texasโ€™ Kylie Collins, 2-6, 5-7, in the round of 64 at the NCAA Singles Championship in Champaign, Ill.

Hule still has the NCAA Doubles Championship to compete in beginning on Tuesday, where she joins teammate Anna Arkadianou as they face Janice Tjen and Savannah Broadus of Pepperdine.

Collins sustained several long rallies to pull off the upset over No. 3 seeded Hule, who finishes the spring year with a 22-2 record in singles competition. After dropping the first set, Hule took a 4-1 lead in the second frame before Collins mounted her comeback.

Hule, a native of Adelaide, Australia, finishes her singles career with 96 victories to rank seventh all-time at Florida State. Combined with her 106 doubles wins, Hule owns 202 career victories as a Seminole, the second-most all-time behind only Andrea Garciaโ€™s 206 wins.

Hule does have an opportunity to make history on Tuesday, as her 106 career doubles victories are tied for the most at Florida State along with Garcia.

Hule finishes the 2021-22 year at 28-7 in singles competition.
