TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Last Wednesday, I wrote about the sell-out of all “special” ticket packages for Florida State football games this season.

Five days later, FSU experienced another sell out; this time of the season-ticket variety.

Because the Seminoles have sold out all of their full season tickets, fans of the garnet and gold are going to find it increasingly harder to purchase tickets as the 2011 season draws near. But there are still several ways to attend the games.

The FSU ticket office is still offering a six-game ticket package that does not include the Oklahoma game. There is also another three-game package available that includes the Miami game as well as two others. There are also group and single-game tickets available.

The important thing to remember, though, is that these tickets could be gone sometime in the near future too. That’s why it is all the more important for FSU fans to get tickets now while they can.

It can be a tough sell — especially for those fans that travel to Tallahassee for games from a long distance — but it would be nice to see a strong rush on tickets for the first two games on the ‘Noles schedule: Louisiana-Monroe and Charleston Southern.

These two opponents are not Oklahoma and I am not trying to make them out to be on the same level. But do you remember what happened to Michigan a few years ago against Appalachian State? What about Virginia Tech’s game against James Madison a season ago?

Two big-time programs. Two big-time upsets at the hands of supposed “cupcakes” on the schedule.

I’d like to think that the Seminoles won’t have much trouble achieving a 2-0 record prior to the monumental showdown with the Sooners. But upsets do happen.

Just ask the Wolverines and Hokies.

A raucous home crowd to start the season would not only help the Seminoles handle their business but it could really add that extra bit of buzz before the entire college football world congregates at Doak Campbell Stadium on Sept. 17.

If you can, buy your tickets today or as soon as possible. To do, call the FSU Ticket Office at 1-888-FSU-NOLE. You can also click here to access the online ticket office.
