TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State Track and Field senior Jayla Kirkland has been named ACC Women’s Co-Track Performer of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday. Kirkland shares the recognition with Miami’s Tiara McMinn.
“Jayla had an incredible weekend,” said Head Coach Bob Braman. “Her two races were huge in our chase for a National Top-5 finish.”
In her outdoor season debut, Kirkland’s 100-meters time of 11.15 at the Pepsi Florida Relays stands as the second-fastest time in Florida State women’s history and ranks No. 4 nationally this season.
The Birmingham, Alabama native also led the third place finish in the women’s 4x100m relay with a season best time of 43.80. Kirkland ran the second leg of the relay, which is the tenth-fastest time in program history and ranks No. 6 in the NCAA.
Kirkland and the rest of the Seminole track and field program are set to compete next at the Tom Jones Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. on April 16th & 17th.
