TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — With an outstanding week at the plate and five flawless games at third base, Jessie Warren was named ACC Player of the Week on May 1, as announced by the league on Tuesday.
It is the second time this season and the sixth time in her career that Warren has been named the ACC Player of the Week. She was also named one of the Top Performers of the week by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
Warren carried the Seminole offense, batting .500 (8-for-16) with two doubles, two home runs, four runs scored and seven RBI. The senior third baseman posted a slugging percentage of 1.000 over the five games and added five walks to record an on-base percentage of .619 as Florida State earned its sixth consecutive ACC regular season championship.
Warren hit a game-tying home run on April 23 against Louisville as FSU came from behind to complete the series sweep of the Cardinals. She had two hits, including a home run, against reigning National Player of the Year Kelly Barnhill on April 25 at No. 5 Florida. The Tampa, Fla., native had two multi-hit games, drove in five runs and added a pair of doubles in the series at Notre Dame on April 27-29.
She extended her ACC record totals of career home runs (75) and RBI (253), while ranking 13th and 16th in NCAA history, respectively, in those categories.
Warren and the Seminoles will close the 2018 regular season on May 4-6 with a three-game series at NC State.
