Playing his first game as a Seminole, Johnson, from Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and a University of Georgia transfer, set career highs with seven tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Johnson spearheaded a defense that allowed just 65 rushing yards, a 288-yard improvement from the 2020 matchup with the Fighting Irish and the fifth-fewest for a Mike Norvell-coached team.
Johnson is the first Seminole since Brian Burns in 2017 against Clemson to have at least seven tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks against a ranked opponent.
Florida State is back in action Saturday at 8:00 p.m. on the ACC Network against Jacksonville State.
