TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State’s Kim Williams (Kingston, Jamaica) has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Indoor Performer of the Week for the period ending February 14.
“Kimberly’s performance at the Tyson meet was phenomenal,” FSU Head Coach Bob Braman said. “Recording the third best jump in history says it all. She’s not just the best track and field athlete in the ACC, but the entire country.”
As the second Seminole to earn the weekly honor, Williams’ dominated the triple jump last weekend at the Tyson Invitational with a first-place leap of 14.17m/ 46-06.00 which automatically qualified her for the NCAA Indoor Championships. Not only did the five-time NCAA Champion better her already leading FSU triple jump record, but she also reset the Tyson Invitational record and most importantly now leads the NCAA with the longest triple jump this season.
After a busy weekend, Williams and the ‘Noles will take this week off to practice before the squad leaves to the ACC Indoor Championships Wednesday, February 24, with competition beginning Thursday.
