WATERSOUND, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – Sophomore Frederik Kjettrup carded an opening-round 72 to shoot even par at Shark’s Tooth Golf Club in the first day of the Watersound Invitational.
Kjettrup’s 72 is tied for 14th at the tournament. Florida State Men’s Golf is 11th among the 14 participating teams at the Watersound Invitational, shooting a 9-over 297 in the first round.
The native of Aabybro, Denmark, used four birdies to his advantage in what has shown to be a difficult course so far. Just 13 of the 72 competing golfers managed to shoot under par, led by Alabama’s Canon Claycomb who shot a 5-under 67 to start.
No. 17 Georgia Tech (-3), Virginia Tech (-2) fourth-ranked North Carolina (-2) and NC State (-1) are the four teams that have shot under par.
Senior transfer Michael Sakane is tied for 21st after recording a 1-over 73. He led the Seminoles with five total birdies, including back-to-back birdies on the fifth and sixth holes to spark his round. Sakane’s 1-under total score on the par 3 holes is tied for the second lowest in the field.
Senior Dan Bradbury and sophomore Brett Roberts are each tied for 50th at 4-over.
Sakane will tee things off once again for FSU in the second round on Monday, beginning at 10:50 a.m. ET/9:50 a.m. CT. Live scoring will once again be available on Golfstat.com.
