Knaff and Arcila Come Up Just Short In Regional Doubles Final

ATHENS, Ga. – The Florida State men’s tennis team wrapped up play at the ITA Southeast Regional on Tuesday.

“It was a good tournament,” said head coach Dwayne Hultquist. “We had good results getting to the finals in the singles consolation draw and the doubles main draw. It was also good to see Richard advance to the round of 16 in singles. I am looking forward to what lies ahead of us and keep building off this performance.”

Junior Rana-Roop Singh Bhullar finished his tournament in the consolation singles finals. He was not able to keep his win streak going as he lost 6-3, 6-4 to Mikhail Sokolovsky of UCF. After losing his first match of the main draw Bhullar won four straight matches to advance to the consolation finals.

In doubles, junior Alex Knaff and sophomore Sebastian Arcila continued to advance as they won their fourth straight match together to make it to the finals. In the semifinals, they took the first set 6-2. In the second set, they fell behind 4-2 before tying it up at four. The Seminoles duo went into a tiebreaker with Felipe Escobar and Mateo Ruiz of FGCU and came away victorious with a 7-3 win in the tiebreaker.

In the finals, Knaff and Arcila got off to a slow start against Johannes Ingildsen and Brian Berdusco, losing the first set 6-0. The second set was closer, but Knaff and Arcila lost 6-4
