SURPRISE, Ariz. – Florida State men’s tennis junior Alex Knaff and sophomore Sebastian Arcila fell in the second round of the Oracle ITA Fall Championship to the 24th ranked team of Brian Berdusco and Johannes Ingildsen of Florida in three sets.
The Gators dominated the first set jumping out to a 3-0 lead. Knaff and Arcila earned their only point of the set as they brought the score to 3-1. Berdusco and Ingildsen won the first set 6-1.
In the second set, the Noles and Gators exchanged points until Florida State took a 4-3 lead. Knaff and Arcila went on to win the next two points to take the second set 6-3 and force a third set tiebreaker to 10.
Once again the two doubles teams were neck and neck as the score was tied 6-6 in the third set. Florida went on to win the next two games to take an 8-6 lead before defeating the Noles 10-7 in the final set.
Knaff and Arcila finished the fall season with a 5-2 doubles record.
