TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Round one of the singles main draw at the Tallahassee Futures presented by Visit Tallahassee saw Seminole sophomore Alex Knaff pull off a huge upset over No. 1 seed and current No. 263 in the world, Austin Krajicek.
Knaff was up in set one but ended up falling 6-4. He made a quick turn around and dominated set two, winning it 6-1.
The third set brought in some excitement as Knaff and Krajicek exchanged points. The frustration mounted for Krajicek as he smashed his racket as Knaff took a 5-4 lead. The two battled back and forth in the deuce point with Krajicek never gaining the advantage. Knaff capped off his victory with a 6-4 win in the third set.
Knaff gets back on the court tomorrow at 11 a.m. against Jacob Dunbar in the second round. Redshirt seniors Jose Gracia and Lucas Poullain cap off the night with a doubles match at 6 p.m. against assistant coach Ryler DeHeart and Will Spencer
