Kristin Frye Named To the 2002 AVCA Division I All-Region Team

After earning All-ACC honors earlier this season, Florida State standout Kristin Frye was one of 12 athletes named to the 2002 AVCA Division I East Region Team. The senior opposite earned the honor after leading her team to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998. The Seminoles finished the season with a record of 21-13.

Frye, a native of Fort Wayne, Ind., was a leader for the Florida State squad during the 2002 season. A member of the All-ACC First Team, Frye had her best season as a Seminole. Frye ranks sixth in the conference in hitting percentage, as she hit a team-high .297 on the season. The explosive opposite has also ranks seventh in the ACC in kills with a team-high 469, averaging 3.58 per game. With 20 service aces on the season, Frye ranks 10th among FSU’s all-time ace leaders. Frye recorded a career-high 22 kills and 48 attacks against Georgia Tech October 6th.

Junior setter Jennifer Anderson earned East Region honorable mention after helping her team reach the ACC Championship match and NCAA Tournament. Anderson recorded 1,734 assists on the season, which placed her first in the conference with 13.24 assists per game. With 4,015 assists in her career at Florida State, Anderson ranks second among FSU’s all-time assists leaders. The Minier, Ill. native set an ACC Tournament and school record for most assists in a single match with a career-high 87 against Clemson in the first round of the conference tournament.
