March 16, 2001

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- In day two of competition at the NCAA Championships in Long
Island, NY, the Seminoles competed in two events. Christy Cech, who was honored as an
All-American Thursday in the 50 Free, competed in her second event of the 2001
Championships. In preliminary action of the 200 Freestyle, Cech placed 36 in an field of
highly talented swimmers. Her time of 1:49.69 was a personal best in this event. She was
selected as an alternate in the final swim, but was not given the opportunity to compete in
the consolation final.

In the 100 Breaststroke, Keryn Krynauw finished in 30th place with a time of
1:04.06 which was also good for a spot as an alternate. Unfortunately her opportunity as
an alternate came up short.

Both swimmers will compete in the final day of competition at the Championships
in New York on Saturday. Cech will compete in the 100 Freestyle, while Krynauw will
swim the 200 Breaststroke.
