Florida State is just 2-6 in ACC openers since joining the league in 1991. All six losses have come when FSU opens its ACC slate on the road. This is the sixth straight year FSU has opened its ACC schedule on the road. FSU has opened twice at Duke, losing 1-3 in 1992 and 0-3 in 1994. The Noles last conference opener victory came in 1993 at home against Clemson.
Freshman middle hitter Dawn Hough will not play this weekend due to swelling in her right knee. An MRI earlier this week came back negative. Jennifer Werrick will also sit out to rest her sore ankles.
