Larsson Leads Seminole Women’s Golf Team At Lady Gamecock Classic

March 14, 2004

Florida State University sophomore Caroline Larsson finished in a tie for 17th-place in the individual standings and the Seminole women’s golf team finished in ninth place in the team standings as play in the Lady Gamecock Classic was completed at the University Club. It was Larsson’s sixth career top-20 finish and the fifth top-10 finish for the Seminoles in six events this year.

North Carolina, which led during the final two rounds of the event, claimed the team championship. Ashley Prange, a Tar Heel senior, captured the second individual championship of her career as she defeated South Carolina’s Adrienne Gautreaux by three strokes.

Larsson (Danderyd, Sweden) enjoyed the best day of the five Seminoles in the event over the final 18 holes as she carded a four over par 76 to finish with a three-day total of 232. She improved on her tournament score by five strokes after carding a 237 and finishing in a tie for 40th place at last week’s Lady Gator Invitational.

Senior Katie Quinney (Atlantic Beach, Fla.) finished in 29th place with a 237 total. Freshman Jaclyn Burch (Wildwood, Mo.) finished with her best single-round total of the tournament as she carded a 79 over the final 18 holes.

Florida State’s next event comes at the Liz Murphy Collegiate Championship March 26-28 in Athens, Ga.
