TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – Decorated Florida State Women’s Basketball Alumna Leticia Romero re-signed her professional contract with Spanish League team Valencia BC, announced on Thursday by the Eurobasket News Center.
Romero played in 12 games (eight Spanish League, four EuroCup) for Valencia BC in the 2019-20 season before she suffered a season-ending injury. As a starter in her four EuroCup games, she was averaging 8.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game in one of the most competitive leagues in Europe.

In the 2018-19 year, Romero suited up for USK Praha in the Czech Republic where she averaged 8.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.7 steals. She helped guide her team to the Euroleague Final Four.
The native of the Canary Islands produced a tremendous three-year career with the Seminoles from 2014-17, emerging as one of the nation’s best point guards. She left Florida State as the ACC’s all-time leader in 3-point field goal percentage (47.7 percent), and became the first three-time All-American in FSU history.
In her 87 career games at FSU, Romero shot 50 percent or better in 42 of those games. Against 32 AP Top 25 teams, she always rose to the occasion by shooting close to 50 percent (48 percent – 153-of-319).
Romero also established herself on the Spanish National Team program, coming off the bench to help Spain earn its first Silver Medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil. Romero averaged 5.8 points off the bench, highlighted by a 16-point performance (6-of-6) against China in only 14 minutes.
