CORAL GABLES, Fla. (seminoles.com) — Florida State, which holds the longest current winning streak in the ACC at five consecutive victories, travels to play at Miami on Saturday, January 11, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Fla. The Seminoles won the first meeting between the two teams just 11 days ago, 65-64, as redshirt senior guard RayQuan Evans made two free throws with 0.8 seconds remaining in the Seminoles’ win at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee. The Seminoles arrive in Coral Gables with an eight-game winning streak against the Hurricanes. Florida State has won each of the meetings between the two teams since a 101-90 win on January 27, 2018 at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee. The Seminoles current five-game winning streak began in January 8 with a win over Louisville and includes victories over the Cardinals (January 8, 79-70), the Hurricanes (January 11, 65-64), at Syracuse (January 15, 76-71), No. 5 Duke (January 18, 79-78 in overtime) and against UNF (January 20, 86-73). Following Saturday’s game against Miami, the Seminoles travel to play at Georgia Tech on January 26 at 9:00 p.m. in the first meeting of the season between the two teams.
HAMILTON, FLORIDA STATE WITH TWO NATIONAL HISTORICAL RECORDS
…Under Head Coach Leonard Hamilton, the Seminoles have won a NCAA record 13 consecutive overtime games. The streak began with a 101-90 double overtime win over Syracuse on January 13, 2018 and continued on Tuesday with their 79-78 overtime win over Duke;
…Speaking to the ability of Head Coach Leonard Hamilton and how he and his staff develops talent, Hamilton has now won an NCAA record 55 games over ranked teams while his teams were unranked following the Seminoles’ win over No. 5 Duke on Tuesday in Tallahassee.
ACC SIXTH MAN OF THE YEAR CANDIDATE MATTHEW CLEVELAND WITH FIRST CAREER 20-10 DOUBLE DOUBLE
ACC Sixth Man of the Year candidate Matthew Cleveland earned his second career double with a 21-point and 10- rebound performance in Florida State’s 86-73 win over North Florida on Thursday in Tallahassee. His first career double double of 13 points and 10 rebounds in Florida State 83-81 win at NC State on January 1, 2022 earned Cleveland ACC Freshman of the Week honors for the first time in his career on January 3 from the ACC Office. Cleveland’s double double against UNF is the first 20-10 double double since Mfiondu Kabengele earned a double double of 21 points and 10 rebounds against Vermont in the NCAA Tournament on March 21, 2019. Cleveland’s performance against the Ospreys is the first double double by a true freshman Seminole since Jonathan Isaac totaled 23 points and 10 rebounds in Florida State’s 83-80 win over Notre Dame in Tallahassee on January 18, 2017.
HAMILTON IS THE FIFTH WINNINGEST COACH IN ACC HISTORY
Seminole Head Coach Leonard Hamilton is the fifth winningest coach in ACC history with 389 career wins at Florida State.

…Defeat Miami and gain a sweep of the regular season series between the two teams for the fourth consecutive season. With eight straight wins against the Hurricanes, the Seminoles’ have won both ends of the season series in 2019, 2020 and 2021.
…Defeat Miami and win the two-game season series against Miami for the ninth time (2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021) since the Hurricanes joined the ACC for the beginning of the 2004-05 season;
….Defeat Miami and win its fifth consecutive ACC game. The Seminoles most recently won five straight ACC games during the 2020-21 season when they defeated NC State (January 13, 2021, 105-73), North Carolina (January 16, 2021, 82-75), Louisville (January 18, 2021, 78-65), Clemson (January 23, 2021, 80-61) and Miami (January 27, 2021, 81-59) all in a row in a 14-day span.
FLORIDA STATE PLAYING FOR A SIX-GAME WINNING STREAK
A sixth consecutive win would mark Florida State’s longest winning streak since the Seminoles won 10 consecutive games from December 8, 2018 through January 25, 2020. The Seminoles won six consecutive ACC games during that stretch.
FLORIDA STATE’S CURRENT WINNING STREAK
Florida State enters Saturday’s game against Miami having won five straight and seven of its last eight games since a 97-60 win over Lipscomb on December 15, 2021. Following their game against Wake Forest on January 4 in Winston-Salem, the Seminoles were 7-5 overall, 1-2 in ACC play and in a tie for ninth in the ACC standings. Entering Saturday’s game against Miami, the Seminoles are 12-5 overall, 5-2 in ACC play and alone in second place in the ACC standings.
FLORIDA STATE IN THE MONTH OF JANUARY
The Seminoles are 6-1 in the month of January with five ACC victories (over NC State, Louisville, Miami, at Syracuse and at Duke) and one non-conference win (over UNF).
FLORIDA STATE ON THE ROAD IN ACC PLAY
With victories at NC State (January 1, 83-81) and at Syracuse (January 15, 76-71), the Seminoles enter Saturday’s game at Miami with a 2-1 record on the road in ACC play. Only Florida State (2-1), North Carolina (2-1) and Virginia (2-1) are above .500 in league play on the road entering this weekend’s slate of ACC games. Florida State is 17-13 in ACC road games during the last three seasons.
FLORIDA STATE IN ACC PLAY SINCE THE START OF THE 2018-19 SEASON
Florida State is 45-15 in ACC regular season play (.750 winning percentage) since the start of the conference schedule in 2018-19.
FLORIDA STATE WITH A SEASON-HIGH FIELD GOAL SHOOTING PERCENTAGE IN WIN OVER UNF
Florida State shot a season-high .559 from the field (33 of 59) in its 86-73 win over UNF on Thursday in Tallahassee. The Seminoles shot .625 from 2-point range (30 of 48) in reaching the 80-point mark for the sixth time this season. Florida State enters Saturday’s game against Miami as one of 10 ACC teams shooting 44 percent or better from the field for the season.
