TALLAHASSEE, FLA. – The Florida State softball team closed out the weekend series against Boston College on March 30 with a 6-0 shutout on JoAnne Graf Field. The Seminoles improve to 29-13 overall and 6-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference while the Eagles slip to 19-17 and 2-4.

Leading the team once again was senior pitcher Tiffany McDonald whose 1.01 ERA and 13-3 record tops the FSU pitching staff. McDonald struck out nine batters in her seventh shutout this season. She now has 138 total strikeouts, an average of just over eight strikeouts per game.

Freshman shortstop Ashley Stager was the first to score in bottom of the second as she swung for the fences to record her fourth home run this season. Stager, who was 1-for-2 on the day with two runs scored and a solo RBI, is now batting .257 and is tied for second in the home run category.

Allison Collins led the offensive threat against Boston College on Sunday, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run scored. The freshman designated player hit .667 against the Eagles and drove in runs number five and six in the bottom of the sixth.

Also hitting safely was seniors Whitney Buckmon and Brittany Osmon and sophomore Monica Montez who all had one hit in three at-bats and each scored one run apiece. Buckmon continues to lead the Seminoles with her .366 average while Osmon is in a close second with .353.

Florida State has won six of its last 10 games, including the win over No. 1 Arizona State on March 20, and will host cross-town rival Florida A&M on Wednesday, April 2, before heading to Maryland to continue its conference schedule on April 5-6.
