McGrone Earns NCAA Mark

The Florida State track and field teams competed into the night Friday at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. Candyce McGrone shined again in the 60m as she claimed her second NCAA provisional mark of the year with a time of 7.42.

Posting an NCAA provisional mark on Friday was Candyce McGrone who ran a 7.42 in the 60m finishing 14th among her college competition. McGrone picked up her second provisional mark of the season and grabbed one of the top five times of the year in the ACC.

Nathan Duby finished in 13th place in the 800m invitational with a time of 1:51.67 which ranks as the top time in the ACC this season. In the open 800m Darrin Gibson clocked a personal best with a 1:52.94 ranking among the top five in the ACC.

Christal Washington narrowly improved on her time in the 800m as she clocked a 2:14.59 after posting a 2:14.77 just two weeks ago. Washington claimed sixth place with her time.

Lizbeth Mabry recorded a top mark of 12-10 in the invitational portion of the pole vault as she claimed 11th among collegiates. Lauren and Callie Giffin both cleared 11-10 in the pole vault to earn top 10 honors in the open section.

Britany St. Louis finished second in her heat in the 400m with a time of 55.56, while in the men’s 400m Charles Clark made his 2010 debut as he clocked a 48.07 and Maurice Mitchell followed up with a 49.06. Clark’s time ranks among the top five in the ACC this season.

David Ambler finished third in his heat in the 60m as he ran a 6.84, just a tenth of a second off an NCAA provisional mark.

Andrea Palen and Christina Woytalewicz posted top 15 finishes in the 5000m as Palen clocked a 17:02.56 for seventh place and Wotalewicz placed 13th with a time of 17:58.71.
