KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (Seminoles.com) – The Florida State Men’s Golf team ended its final regular-season tournament in fourth place, shooting a final-round 288 to finish at 6-under overall on Sunday at The Irish Creek Intercollegiate.
The Seminoles shot six strokes higher than their second-round showing on Saturday, beginning the day in second place. UNC Greensboro ran away with the tournament, finishing 18-under, followed by Ohio State (-10), Kansas (-9), FSU and Davidson (-4).
It is Florida State’s fifth Top 5 finish this year, and its first since coming in second at the Seminole Intercollegiate on Feb. 24 at Golden Eagle Country Club.
John Pak finished as the tournament runner-up, shooting his third consecutive 68 to end at 9-under at Irish Creek. After carding one birdie on the front nine, the beginning of the back nine was kind to him once again as he birdied holes 10 and 11 as well as 13 and 14. His only blemish was finishing with bogeys on holes 17 and 18.
Pak’s second-place showing is his fifth Top-2 finish this year, including his second straight. In FSU’s previous tournament at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational, Pak shot 13-under for second place.
Jamie Li recorded his second Top-10 finish of the season, tying for 10th at 3-under. He ended the tournament with a 1-over 72 in the final round, which included three birdies on Sunday. Li’s best finish this season is tying for sixth at the Seminole Intercollegiate.
Bennett Baker, who played as an individual, tied for 34th at 2-over. He shot an even-par 71 in the final round, including a 1-under 35 on the back nine with a birdie on the par-5 13th hole.
Freshman Calvin Sierota tied for 45th at 4-over, while Greyson Porter tied for 55th (+6) and Jonathan Keppler (+10) placed 73rd.
