TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – After a near three-week hiatus from competition on the course, the Florida State Men’s Golf travels to Kannapolis, N.C., to participate in the Cabarrus Irish Creek Collegiate held April 8-9 at the Club at Irish Creek.

Florida State will play in the upcoming tournament for the second straight year, finishing fourth last season. Current senior Josh Lee tied for 16th in last year’s tournament, finishing strong with a 1-under 70 on the tournament’s final day.

The other participants in this weekend’s field includes Akron, Appalachian State, Charlotte, Dartmouth, Davidson, Dayton, James Madison, Kennesaw State, North Carolina, North Florida, Ohio State, South Carolina, UNCG, VCU and Wake Forest.

Despite tying for 10th in its last tournament at Valspar, FSU recorded a pair of second-place finishes in the previous two competitions in the Seminole Intercollegiate and the Southern Intercollegiate. The Cabarrus Irish Creek Collegiate features another long course at 7,099 yards.

This weekend’s tournament is the final regular-season competition before post-season action begins for the Seminoles. The ACC Championship begins April 21-23 at Musgrove Mill Golf Club in Clinton, S.C. From there, FSU will look to earn a spot in its 12th consecutive NCAA Regional and expand on its program record.

All year, FSU has shown its ability to execute on par 3 holes. Redshirt junior Harry Ellis has an average score of 3.08 on par 3s, currently the fourth-best mark ever by a Seminole in a single year. As a team, FSU’s 3.18 average score on par 3s is the fifth-best showing in team history.

Redshirt senior Cristobal Del Solar leads FSU with an average score of 70.78. He will be joined this weekend by sophomore Bennett Baker, Ellis, redshirt freshman Jonathan Keppler and Lee. Freshman Jamie Li will play individually.

Live stats for all of this weekend’s action will be available on Golfstat.com.
