TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – The 30th-ranked Florida State Men’s Golf team continues its stretch of top-notch tournaments as it prepares for the Valspar Collegiate Invitational held March 17-19 at Floridian National Golf Club in Palm City, Fla.
The 15-team field includes 12 ranked in the Top 31 of the latest Golfstat rankings, including #1 Oklahoma State, #2 Duke, #6 Wake Forest, #8 Texas, #9 Georgia Tech, #11 LSU, #18 Arkansas, #20 USF, #23 Baylor, #27 Texas A&M, #30 Florida State and #31 South Carolina. Also playing are Houston, Lamar and UT Arlington.
FSU performed very well in last year’s Valspar Tournament, placing second at 7-under while John Pak finished as the runner-up at 9-under.
Pak, who was named to the Haskins Award Watch List, returns to this year’s tournament. He will be joined by senior Corey Carlson, junior Jamie Li, redshirt junior Jonathan Keppler and freshmen Alberto Martinez and Calvin Sierota.
The Seminoles have finished in the Top two in three of their four spring tournaments this year. FSU is coming off an eighth-place finish in Cabo, but won the Sea Best Invitational and the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate while placing second at the Seminole Intercollegiate.
Sunday begins with a 1:30 p.m. ET shot-gun start, followed by 8:30 a.m. starts on Monday and Tuesday.
