Oct. 21, 2003

TAMPA, Fla. –
The Florida State men’s golf team finished in ninth place at the Gary Koch/Cleveland Golf Intercollegiate to earn their third consecutive top-10 team finish this season. Seminole junior Matt Adcock finished in a tie for 19th place in the individual standings to earn his second top-20 finish in three events this fall.

Georgia Tech fired a final round 287 to win the event by 15 strokes at Old Memorial Golf Course. The Yellow Jackets set a tournament record in shooting an 842 (-22) – one shot better than the 2001 Florida squad. Georgia Tech also ended the Gators’ streak of three consecutive wins at the Gary Koch Intercollegiate. Florida finished second at 857 while Texas Christian placed third at 860. Florida sophomore Matt Every earned medalist honors after shooting a six-under 66 on the final day to finish at 11-under for the tournament at 205.

Adcock (Apopka, Fla.) carded a one-over par 73 to finish the tournament with a 217 score for the 54-hole event – only one stroke over par. His 217 total is his third best three-round tournament score during his Seminole career. Adcock carded a pair of 72’s in the first and second rounds and improved his individual finish by five positions with his play in the final round.

Junior Mark Sestilio (Punta Gorda, Fla.), who carded a career-low 70 in the tournament’s second round, finished the event with a 220 total of the 54-holes. His score marked the second-best three round tournament of his Seminole career and was rivaled by only his 218 total in the spring 2003 Seminole Intercollegiate.

Junior Rusty Mosley (Vidalia, Ga.) also performed well and finished in a tie for 39th in the individual standings. He carded an even par 72 in the first round and closed with a 223 total – the fifth best tournament score of his Florida State career. Junior Alan Beers (Warner Robbins, Ga.) and Brad Lusenhop (Gloversville, N.Y.) also competed for the Seminoles and finished in a tie for 60th and a tie for 67th respectively.

The Seminoles close out their fall schedule as they travel to the Landfall Tradition, Nov. 1-3, in Wilmington, N.C.
