TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State men’s tennis team announced Monday, April 19, the signing of Blake Davis to a National Letter of Intent for the 2010-2011 season.
Blake Davis is a Blue Chip recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net and is a native of Austin, Texas. Davis is the No. 9 recruit in the nation and the No. 1 recruit from Texas according to tennisrecruiting.net. This past fall he reached the semifinals of the USTA National Opens in Irvine, Calif., the quarterfinals of the USTA B18-16 National Clay Court Championships in Delray Beach, Fla., this past summer and won the 2009 Dallas TA Spring Super Championships and 2009 Houston Open Super Champ MZ. Davis holds a 37-12 record and a 19-11 mark against Blue-Chip and five-star recruits.
“Blake is a great signee for Florida State,” said head coach Dwayne Hultquist. “He’s a great player and one of the top in the nation. He has a team-first attitude which will make him a great leader. We also look forward to his addition in the classroom.”
Davis will begin classes in the summer to begin working towards a degree in either economics or finance. His father Doug Davis is head coach at the Austin Tennis Academy while his older brothers both play collegiately. Tres competed at Texas A&M and Brandon played at Illinois.
