Men’s Tennis Begins NCAA Tournament Play Against UCF

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida State men’s tennis team (18-10) is in Gainesville this weekend to begin play in the 2019 NCAA Tournament. Florida State takes on UCF this Friday, May 3 at 12 pm.

Florida State is 15-3 all-time against UCF with their last meeting in 2017 when the Knights defeated the Seminoles 4-1. UCF (15-10) ranks 30th in the latest ITA Tennis rankings and are led by 43rd ranked Gabriel Decamps in singles. Decamps is 6-7 on the year with all of his matches on court one. He is 1-5 against ranked opponents.

UCF is 5-8 as a team against nationally ranked opponents with their top win coming against 28th ranked Oklahoma State 4-0 on March 20th.

The winner of the Florida State and UCF match will take on the winner of Florida and Florida Gulf Coast Saturday, May 4 at 2 pm.

In the latest Oracle/ITA poll, Florida State comes in at No. 28. This marks the 43rd straight week that the Noles have been ranked in the ITA Poll dating back to February 24, 2017.

The Seminoles have one ranked singles players in redshirt senior Lucas Poullain (No. 30) and one ranked doubles pairs in Aziz Dougaz/Alex Knaff (No. 82).
