Durham, NC – Loris Pourroy once again led the Seminoles with a stellar performance Friday but the Seminoles came up just short in an effort to upset No. 41 Duke. Pourroy upset the nation’s 94th-ranked singles player and teamed with Marcus Walters to knock off the No. 12 doubles team in a 4-2 loss in Durham.
Florida State, taking on its seventh ranked opponent of the season, narrowly dropped the doubles point to start the match. Pourroy and Walters, ranked 69th in the nation, took down the nation’s No. 12 pair 6-4. Chase Wood and Andreja Petrovic came up just short in clinching the point for FSU falling 7-6 (7-2).
Pourroy continued the momentum from the upset in doubles by recording his first win over a ranked opponent this season. The redshirt-freshman notched the victory in straight sets winning 7-5, 6-4.
The Seminoles will complete their 2021 schedule tomorrow against No. 3 UNC. The match is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start in Chapel Hill. For more information on the 2021 Seminole Men’s Tennis program, please follow us on social at FSUMTennis (IG) and @FSU_MTennis (TW) and log on to Seminoles.com.
