Charlottesville, VA – The Florida State men’s tennis team took to the road for its first ACC away match of the season Monday. The Seminoles traveled to No. 4 Virginia where they fell to the Cavaliers 4-0. The loss dropped FSU to 6-5, 0-3 in the ACC while UVA improved to 11-2, 5-0 on the season.
Florida State dropped the doubles point to fall behind and then dropped points on lines 1, 3 and 5 as Virginia clinched the match. The Seminoles and Cavaliers didn’t finish on lines 2, 4 and 6.
“We pushed hard to work our way back in doubles winning at number 2,” said FSU head coach Dwayne Hultquist. “We put ourselves in position to win at 1 up 5-4 and then lost a close deuce point at 5-6. We had a good start in singles getting up four breaks early then they came on strong to close out. We are getting healthier and are looking forward to facing Virginia Tech Tomorrow.”
The Seminole will be back at it tomorrow when they travel to Blacksburg, VA to face Virginia Tech. The Hokies are 6-4, 2-2 on the season and are coming off a victory over the Hurricanes Sunday.
