Rome, GA – After winning on Wednesday and Thursday, the FSU men’s tennis team was trying to pull off another upset to advance at the ACC Championships. The Seminoles took down No. 34 Notre Dame yesterday but were unable to move to the semifinals falling to No. 25 NC State 4-1.
Florida State dropped the doubles point falling on lines one and two. In singles, Sebastian Arcila pointed for FSU with a 6-4, 6-4 win. Andreja Petrovic was in a third set and Alex Knaff in a tiebreaker in the second leading 1-0 before the match was clinched by the Wolfpack.
“The guys battled hard today,” said FSU Head Coach Dwayne Hultquist. “I thought we were a little slow to start the match and they jumped on us in doubles. We battled back in singles and had an opportunity to win four first sets but lost a tight one on line three. Loris did a great job of battling back to take the second set against one of the best players in the country.”
