Men’s Tennis Falls On The Road At Virginia Tech

RESULTS

Blacksburg, VA – The Seminole men’s tennis team wrapped up its road trip through Virginia Tuesday afternoon. Florida State fell to Virginia Tech 5-2 at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.

FSU struck the first blow in doubles as Loris Pourroy and Marcus Walters won their match 6-4. On lines one and three, both matches were highly contested. Virginia Tech got the result on court three with a 7-5 win and then took the point with a 6-4 win on court one.

Andreja Petrovic evened the match as he came off first in singles with a convincing 6-2, 6-4 win. Alex Knaff also recorded a point for FSU as he came back after dropping the first set 4-6 to take the final two 6-2, 6-2. Richard Thongoana lost his first set but fought back to take the second before falling in the third 4-6. Both Pourroy and Walters lost sets via tiebreakers that swung the match to the Hokies.

The Seminoles (5-7, 0-4) will continue their road trip as they head to North Carolina this weekend to face two ranked teams. FSU will play No. 15 NC State Friday at 5:00 p.m. and then head to Winston-Salem to take on No. 12 Wake Forest Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
