Tulsa, Okla. – The Florida State men’s tennis team wrapped up play at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. on Tuesday.
”I was pleased with the weekend out in Tulsa,” said head coach Dwayne Hultquist. “We went 10-4 overall and I am particularly pleased with Rana and Chase. Rana won five matches advancing to the second round of the qualifying draw and beat some very good players along the way. I thought Chase had a great weekend as well winning four matches to qualify, I thought it was a great run for him. We are now just looking forward to the Bedford Cup coming up this weekend.”
Senior Rana-Roop Singh Bhullar finished his tournament run in the second round of the qualifying draw. Bhullar won five straight matches to advance to the fourth day of the ITA All-Americans. He was unable to keep his win streak going as he lost 7-5, 6-1 to Boris Kozlov of LSU.
After losing his first match on day three of the All-American Championships, junior Chase Wood went on to play in the consolation singles draw on Tuesday morning. Wood won four matches over the course of three days but fell short 6-3, 6-3 to Mac Kiger of UNC.
Florida State men’s tennis team will now turn their attention to the Bedford Cup this weekend, Oct. 10-13, in Tallahassee.
