Tallahassee, Fla.- The Florida State men’s tennis team kicks off their 2020 season with a match against head coach Dwayne Hultquist’s alma mater, Penn State. The two will go head-to-head this Sunday (Jan. 5) in the Bahamas.
“We are pumped to get the season started,” said Hultquist. “I always enjoy playing Penn State having played there and growing up there, it’s good to compete against them. We have a very deep team which makes us dangerous for other teams and we have the ability to handle adversity.”
The Seminoles return 8 players from last year’s 19-11 team and welcome two highly talented newcomers.
Sunday’s matchup with the Nittany Lions will only be the third meeting between FSU and PSU. The Garnet and Gold come into the match with a 1-1 record against Penn State and look to take the lead in the overall series.
“We had 3 great days of training,” said Hultquist. “We are looking forward to getting the season going. The guys loved the Bahamas and the team is all healthy and ready to do some damage.”
