Men’s Tennis Renews Rivalry with Gators Saturday

Gainesville, Fla. – Searching for its first victory in the series since 2007, the 35th-ranked FSU men’s tennis team heads to Gainesville to face No. 41 Florida Saturday afternoon at the Ring Tennis Center. The Seminoles (8-2) are coming off a pair of wins last weekend in Tallahassee, while Florida (4-3) enters the match having lost at No. 6 Ohio State on Sunday.

The Seminoles are led by a pair of ranked players, No. 16 Benjamin Lock and No. 85 Marco Nunez. In doubles, the pair are a perfect 7-0.

For Florida, Elliott Orkin (22), Chase Perez-Blanco (30), Diego Hidalgo (50), Alfredo Perez (77), and Joshua Wardell (124) are all ranked in the ITA standings. The Gators also trot out the top-ranked doubles tandem in the country in Hidalgo and Gordon Watson, while Orkin and Maxx Lipman rank No. 32.

All-time, Florida holds a 55-20 advantage and the Seminoles have not won in Gainesville since 1997.
