April 6, 2001

Florida State University freshman Rusty Mosley shot a first round 73 and is in a tie for 22nd-place in the individual standings and the Seminoles are in 10th-place in the team standings at the Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate at the Saugahatchee Country Club. Mosley’s one-over par 73 has him only six strokes off the pace set by current medallist Payton Osborn of Alabama Birmingham.

Mosley (Vidalia, Ga.) shot a 37 on the front nine and went one stroke better on the back nine as he shot a 36. His score of 73 is tied for his best single-round score of the spring season and is the fourth time during his career at Florida State that he has shot 73 or below. Mosley, who entered the tournament averaging 76.67 strokes per round, shot nearly four strokes below his season average.

Senior Mark Donaldson (Kirkaldy, Scotland) shot a two-over par 74 and is in a tie for 31st-place in the individual standings. His score of 74 is his best since shooting a one-over par 73 in the third round of the Seminole Intercollegiate on March 14. He was followed by junior Rick Westbrook (Alto, Ga.) who carded a three-over par 75. Westbrook entered the tournament as the Seminoles’ second-ranked golfer with a 74.87 stokes-per-round average.
