April 18, 2004

Florida State University junior Rusty Mosley carded a one-under par 71 in the final round and finished in a tie for 21st place to lead the Seminoles to a seventh place finish at the 51st Annual Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Golf Championship at the Old North State Golf Club at Uhwarrie Point. Mosley led a trio of Seminoles who finished at or under par in the third round as the Seminoles carded their third-best team round of the season. Florida State’s seventh place team finish is an improvement of one position from last year’s eighth place finish.

No. 2 ranked Clemson won its ninth ACC Championship – its second consecutive – as it defeated Wake Forest by nine strokes. The Tigers were 10 under par in the final round. Sean Moore of Wake Forest won his first career individual ACC Championship by one stroke over Jack Ferguson of Clemson.

Mosley (Vidalia, Ga.) carded his team leading seventh round at par or better in finishing with a 218 total for the 54-hole tournament. It marked the fourth time this season Mosley had finished with a tournament total of 218 or better in seven events this spring. He finished the final 36 holes of the championship with a one under par total of 143. Mosley’s tied for 21st finish is his best in three career ACC Championship tournaments.

Junior Alan Beers (Warner Robins, Ga.) closed out the tournament with a one-over par 73 and finished with a 219 total. He shot an even-par 72 in the first round and averaged 73.00 strokes per round during the event. Beers’ finish marked the second consecutive event he had finished within three strokes of par or better. He shot a two-over par 218 in last week’s Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate.

Junior Matt Adcock (Apopka, Fla.) led the Seminoles over the final 18 holes as he carded a two-under par 70 and finished with a three-round total of 220. He finished in a tie for 29th place. Adcock also finished in a tie for 29th place at last year’s ACC Championship.

Freshman Bradley Ruch (Lexington, Ky.), playing in his first career ACC Championship, finished tied with Adcock in 29th place. Ruch carded a one-under par 71 in the second round and finished with a three-over par 75in the third round.
