TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – For the first time in his career, Florida State junior Chad Mylin was named the ACC Male Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday by the league office.
Mylin took home three first places on Saturday, helping the No. 18 Seminoles (2-1, 1-0 ACC) defeat Pitt 191-107 in Trees Hall. The victory was the first in conference since Oct. 25, 2013 when FSU defeated NC State and Georgia Tech.
“I’m so proud of Chad,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “He works very hard and he is really deserving of this.”
Individually, Mylin won the 50 free with a time of 19.69, which was almost one-second faster than the second place finisher – senior Jason McCormick (20.42).
In addition to his individual, Mylin also turned in the two fastest split times the relays, helping the Seminoles to a pair of hefty victories. The Longwood, Fla. native first posted a 19.32 swimming free in the 200 medley before finishing with 19.45 anchor leg in the 200 free relay.
Mylin also finished third in the 100 free, rounding out the complete the sweep over the Panthers in the event with a time of 45.13.
