Noles Complete Day Two of Women’s NCAA

ATHENS, Ga. –  Florida State women's swimming and diving team members Edith Jernstedt, Maddy Huggins and Samantha Vear competed on Thursday at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday at the Jack Baurele Pool at the Gabrielsen Natatorium.
 
Jernstedt clocked 1:58.14 in the 200 IM, just off her season best (1:58.05) to finish 46th and Huggins placed 66th at 2:03.34.
 
"Today was our quiet day where the ladies swam their third-best events," FSU head coach Neal Studd said. "It was great for them to get in there and compete today."
 
On the boards, Samantha Vear competed on 1-meter, scoring 234.75 for 41st place. Vear will be back on the boards on Friday at 12 p.m. for prelims of 3-meter. The top eight will advance to finals. Divers that finish ninth through 16th in prelims will compete in the consolation heat, which will take place at 5:15 p.m.
 
"Sammy didn't have her best day," FSU head diving coach John Proctor said. "But she's going to go after it tomorrow on 3-meter and give it everything she's got."
 
On Wednesday, the team of Sarah Evans, Huggins, Jenny Halden and Gloria Muzito competed in the 200 medley relay, touching 18th with a time of 1:36.26, just off their seeded time (1:36.20).
 
Halden, swam the second-fastest 50 fly split in the field, clocking 22.35.
 
Prelims will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday. Jernstedt and Halden will compete in the 100 fly, while Huggins will swim the 100 breast. The top 16 in each event will advance to finals, earning All-America honors and scoring points for the team total.
 
The Seminoles will compete in the 400 medley relay, while will be swum at finals, starting at 6 p.m.
 
All sessions will stream through ESPN+ and more updates and results can be found through the NCAA Championship site.
