GREENSBORO, N.C. – Florida State’s Ngonidzashe Makusha has been chosen as the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Indoor Track & Field Performer of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday.
Makusha, a Seminole sophomore from Mandedza, Zimbabwe, scored the league’s best mark in the long jump at the Tyson Invitational to earn his first league honor of 2009. His leap of 25-0.75 provisionally qualified the 2008 Indoor All-American for this year’s Indoor NCAA Championships. The jump is also the sixth-longest collegiate jump this season.
The league will now conclude final preparations for the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships, which open on Thursday, February, 26 and run through Saturday, Feb. 28, at Virginia Tech’s Rector Field House. ACC Select will provide video coverage of the event. For more information, please visit www.ACCSelect.com.
