TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – The top-ranked Florida State Men’s Golf team looks to defend its worthy honor on Sunday and Monday when it participates at the Hayt Collegiate held at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
Fourteen teams are part of the field for this week’s tournament hosted by North Florida. They include FSU, UNF, Augusta, Charlotte, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, Jacksonville, Liberty, Louisville, UAB, UCF, USC Upstate, USF and Wake Forest.
Florida State has won three of its five tournaments played this spring season, which includes the Camp Creek Invitational, the Seminole Intercollegiate and its last tournament at The Valspar Collegiate. Combined with the success of the top-ranked women’s program, both teams have combined for five tournament titles this spring.
Senior All-American John Pak leads FSU in scoring average at 70.00, while dynamic duo teammate Vincent Norrman is not far behind at 70.33. Norrman owns the lone win by an FSU member this spring at the season-opening Timuquana Collegiate where he shot a 4-under 212.
In FSU’s five tournaments this spring, it has finished in the Top two in four of them, which also includes a second place finish at the Cabo Collegiate in San Antonio where it lost by just a single stroke.
Fans can follow all of Sunday and Monday’s action on Golfstat. Sunday will includes two rounds beginning at 8:10 a.m. for the Seminoles. Connor Futrell, Brett Roberts, Frederik Kjettrup , Vincent Norrman and John Pak will represent FSU in Ponte Vedra. Jamie Li will also play as an individual.
