#12 Florida State (20-5, 3-0 ACC)

Florida State, ranked No. 12 in this week’s Collegiate Baseball poll, improved to 20-5 on the season with a sweep over Maryland last weekend in the conference opener. Eddy Martinez-Esteve led the way hitting .667 with two doubles, a home run and six runs scored. Martinez-Esteve also had a career-high seven RBI against Jacksonville last Wednesday. Freshman Ryne Malone belted two grand slams in the series agianst Maryland while hitting .400 with a double, triple and 13 RBI. Shortstop Stephen Drew is expected to miss his third straight series with a pulled muscle in his hip.

The Tar Heels have won 13 of their last 15 games after taking 2-of-3 from Virginia last weekend. North Carolina hosted Towson for a pair of mid-week games and took game won by a final of 14-1. UNC is led offensively by Chris Iannetta (.359) and Jay Cox (.358).

The Florida State-North Carolina Series

Florida State leads the all-time series with North Carolina 46-17 dating back to 1956. The Seminoles and Tar Heels split the series last year 2-2 with UNC taking the final meeting 3-2 (10 innings) in the ACC Tournament. North Carolina swept Florida State in the last trip to Chapel Hill (11-7, 7-1, 9-1) in 2002, which is also the last time the Seminoles were swept in conference play.
