TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The No. 16 Florida State softball team travels to College Park, Md. to take part in its first road conference series of the season against Maryland on April 3 and 4.
The Seminoles (31-6, 4-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) will match up with a Terrapins (20-13, 0-5) squad that they are 38-8 against all-time.
Florida State is coming off an impressive week in which the team knocked off top-10 Georgia on the road and then swept ACC foe Boston College at home.
The good week was made even better when senior Terese Gober was named the conference’s Pitcher of the Week.
Gober’s stellar pitching — she tossed her second-career no-hitter against the Eagles — combined with that of fellow hurler Sarah Hamilton has been the calling-card for the Seminoles this season. FSU also utilizes a stout defense and balanced offensive lineup.
This recipe for success has led to a top-20 ranking and excellent overall record that the ‘Noles will take with them to Maryland.
Like the Seminoles, the Terrapins’ previous outing was a run-rule victory. The Terps took out Hofstra, 10-2, at home on Tuesday.
Saturday’s games take place at 1 and 3 p.m. and the Sunday contest is slated for 1 p.m. All games can be followed online via Gametracker.
