#2 FLORIDA STATE (33-6, 11-4 ACC)

The second-ranked Seminoles host Jacksonville Wednesday night after taking two of three from then-No. 13 Clemson over the weekend. Head coach Mike Martin won his 1,272nd game Sunday against the Tigers and now ranks eighth all-time in career victories. After the game with the Dolphins, Florida State travels to Coral Gables for a three-game series against No. 11 Miami. Freshman third baseman Eddy Martinez-Esteve leads the team with a .365 season average and is tied for the team lead in home runs (7) with junior catcher Tony Richie, who has recorded a team-high 48 RBI. Senior Daniel Davidson was named ACC Pitcher of the Week for his performance against Clemson as he pitched seven scoreless innings and tied a career-high with seven strikeouts.

JACKSONVILLE (17-19, 10-11 A-Sun)

Jacksonville won two of three from Georgie State over the weekend to improve to 17-19 on the season. The Dolphins are led offensively by LF Chad Hauseman (.402, 13 HR, 29 RBI). JU will likely use a number of pitchers Wednesday and a starter has not yet been determined.

Florida State leads the all-time series with Jacksonville 91-30, which dates back to 1964. The Seminoles won three of four vs. JU last year, including a 13-4 loss that snapped a 20-game winning streak and Ryan Barthelemy’s 33-game hitting streak (one short of the school record). Last Wednesday’s game at Jacksonville was rained out after 3 1/2 innings. Chris Hart was 2-for-2 with two doubles and what would have been a career-high five RBI before the rainout.

The Sunshine Network will carry Wednesday’s game vs. JU live in South Florida ONLY with a statewide replay shown at 11:00 p.m. Gene Deckerhoff and Charles Davis will call the action. The game will also be carried live by WFLA News Radio 1270 (FSU’s flagship station) in Tallahassee. Lee Bowen and Jim Crosby will begin coverage 15 minutes prior to game time.
