No. 2 Florida State Travels To Louisville

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Taking its 20-game winning streak in ACC play on the road, No. 2 Florida State (41-3-1, 18-0 ACC) will play its last road conference series of the season with a three-game set at Louisville (26-14, 9-4 ACC) on April 23-24.

Due to weather in the area, Saturday’s originally scheduled game has been moved to Sunday, creating a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Ulmer Stadium. Monday’s game will remain at 7:00 p.m.

“At this point it almost feels like we are spending more time on the road in planes, buses and hotels than we are at home, but it is making us closer and we knew that this part of the schedule was going to be challenging for us,” said FSU head coach Lonni Alameda. “Louisville is a competitive team that really battles and they’ve been a great addition to our conference. But the main thing is for us to go out and play our game this weekend and focus on what we can control and we’ll put ourselves in a good spot to succeed.”

The Seminoles lead the all-time series with the Cardinals, 6-4, dating back to 2002. FSU and Louisville have played five games since UofL joined the ACC in 2014, and the Noles have won three games.

FSU’s 18 conference wins in 2017 already rank in a tie for sixth-best in a single season in ACC history. The Noles have won 20 consecutive ACC games, last losing a conference game on May 7, 2016 to Louisville by a score of 4-0.

Florida State holds at least a four-game lead in the loss column over all other schools in the conference standings, and depending on results of the games in this series or around the league, the Seminoles could clinch their fifth straight ACC regular season title and 15th overall this weekend.

Admission is free for all three games, with the first game each day being broadcast on ESPNU. The second game of Saturday’s doubleheader will be shown on the ACC Network Extra. Live stats, as well as the FSU Softball radio stream, will be available on Seminoles.com.
