No. 21 Women’s Tennis Hosts Saturday Doubleheader

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –The Florida State women’s tennis team (3-2) comes home for the first time this spring as they host a doubleheader on Saturday, February 10th against Florida Atlantic (10 a.m.) and Mercer (3 p.m.).

The Seminoles are 2-0 all-time against both teams. The Seminoles last took on FAU a season ago and shut them out 4-0. The Garnet and Gold have outscored the Owls 9-1 in the series. Florida State last saw Mercer in 2015, where they shut them out as well, 4-0. The Seminoles have never let up a point against the bears and have outscored them 11-0 in their two meetings.

3 Ranking of Florida when Florida State defeated them on Feb. 3 was tied for the highest ranked win in program history.
4 Sophomore Carla Touly has recorded four doubles victories in five matches to lead the Noles in doubles wins this spring.

200 Head Coach Jennifer Hyde can earn her 200th win at Florida State this weekend with just one win. She is the all-time winningest coach in Florida State women’s tennis history.
4 Florida State has won four of the five doubles points this season, including doubles wins over No. 2 Vanderbilt and No. 3 Florida.

Seminoles Sweep ACC Weekly Honors
Florida State grabbed a clean sweep of the ACC Honors this past week after an upset win over No. 3 and defending national champions Florida. Sophomore Andrea Garcia earned ACC player of the Week honors after a three-set win on court six against Katie Kubicz 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 to clinch the match for the Seminoles.

Freshman Petra Hule earned ACC Freshman of the Week honors after a tremendous performance on court three. She dominated Victoria Emma in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 to give the Garnet and Gold a 2-0 lead in their 4-1 win over Florida.

Noles in the Polls
In the latest USTA poll, Florida State comes in at No. 21. The Seminoles also have one ranked singles players and one doubles pair. Sophomore Carla Touly came in ranked No. 90 and the duo of sophomore Andrea Garcia and freshman Petra Hule are ranked No. 50 in this week’s Oracle/ITA rankings.
