TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – No. 25 Florida State Volleyball, ranked for the first time this season, heads to Charlottesville, Va., to play 13th-ranked Louisville on Saturday at 2 p.m.
The Seminoles (10-3, 6-3) face the Cardinals (9-2, 7-2) riding a nine-match win streak, with all nine wins coming in an undefeated spring season. Florida State is 9-0 this spring after going 1-3 in the fall season.
FSU is hoping for a second consecutive weekend knocking off a Top-15 opponent after winning in five sets at home last weekend vs. Notre Dame. The Seminoles also defeated Virginia Tech in four sets last Sunday.
Redshirt sophomore outside hitter Morgan Chacon earned her first ACC Player of the Week award earlier in the week. The native of Crown Point, Ind., was the team leader last week in points accounted for (37.0) and kills (35), putting together two tremendous performances in wins over No. 14 Notre Dame and Virginia Tech.
Senior middle blocker Taryn Knuth continues to be the primary difference maker following her absence in the fall due to an injury. She is averaging 1.68 blocks per set in the spring season, while sophomore middle blocker Emma Clothier is averaging 1.0 blocks per set and hitting .530 on the season.
Following Saturday’s match, FSU has four regular-season matches remaining at Pitt, vs. UNC (in Pittsburgh) and home vs Syracuse (April 1) and NC State (April 3).
