No. 3 Softball Heads To North Carolina

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Playing on the road for the third weekend in a row, No. 3 Florida State (37-5, 9-3 ACC) heads to Chapel Hill to play a three-game series at North Carolina (24-13, 11-4 ACC) on April 13-15.

The games on Saturday and Sunday will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra and will start at 1:00 p.m., while Monday’s 7:00 p.m. game will air nationally on ESPNU.

“The North Carolina series is always competitive, as they always have quality pitching, kids that can swing it and speed on the basepaths,” said FSU head coach Lonni Alameda. “They are having a great year and it will be an awesome opportunity for us this weekend. Looking forward to another road test and a chance to continue to improve.”

The Seminoles rank second in the country in on-base percentage (.445) and are fourth in home runs (65), scoring (7.62 runs per game and slugging percentage (.617). The 65 home runs for Florida State already ranks in a tie for third-most in a single season in program history, 11 away from the record of 76 (2018).

Florida State leads the all-time series with North Carolina, 71-24, and have won each of the last 15 games against the Tar Heels, dating back to 2013. Overall, the Seminoles hold a record of 26-12 at Anderson Stadium, with a mark of 41-18 against UNC during ACC regular season play.

Senior shortstop Cali Harrod has batted in the leadoff spot for the Seminoles in all 42 games this year and has done an outstanding job of getting the game going for FSU. In her 42 first-inning plate appearances, she has a batting average of .500 (13-for 26) with a triple, two home runs and 15 walks. Overall, Harrod has reached base to start the FSU first inning in 28 of 42 games this season and has scored 22 of her 53 runs in 2019 in the first inning.
